In what ways can Wallace's theory about education be applicable to writing of Alice Munro? Conclusion? In the speech of David Foster Wallace, "This Is Water", he suggests that true freedom is acquired through education. He describes humans as being as being naturally or organically strained in a default setting. This means that different circumstances are surrounded by oneself and not on other people's circumstances or situations (feelings). By achieving freedom through our set of mind we are able to see different perspectives about different aspects of the world (from agriculture to traditions). In 'This is Water', Wallace provides the readers with deep thoughts and emotions about our everyday life 'typical day'- this ensures readers to gain empathy or sympathy thus making them more emotionally intelligent.
