Prompt: With reference to Things Fall Apart, show how sub-plots or secondary characters contribute to the reader's understanding and appreciation of the work as a whole.

 Secondary characters are essential in the novel because they drive the story line, to the extent of further development and understanding of certain characters, vital themes and establishment of Igbo beliefs and values.

What is the value of preserving indigenous languages?  For example: Consider aboriginal languages with rich vocabularies used to describe the natural world It is important to preserve indigenous languages because often times a particular language can be derived from a dying language. Thus creates a different and sensible meaning. Having said, this will broaden the vocabulary of the language and allow a larger scale of dialects. Depending where the language is geographically from, those people will eventually lose a sense of identity or cultural value. Language can represent a particular culture's values for instance, nobility and loyalty. Even though a particular culture does not need a language, it is still a great tool to give a sense of connection within that community.
