Blog post 25 - Summer Break 2

My summer break was one of the longest I have ever had. Been traveling to so many different countries, eight to be exact and experiencing some of the most amazing cultures in the world. I have been trying new foods that I have never tried before, so which within the country is considered on of the best cuisine in the country. One of my favorite places that I have been to on this trip was Stockholm, Singapore and Amsterdam. Each place had certain aspects and cultures that made it stand out. For Stockholm, the ancient and rich in cultures and cuisines. Singapore reminded me of Dubai with the modern city lights and architecture, with a vibrant culture and local cuisine. Amsterdam is a city with amazing shopping destinations and diversity.

What is the value of preserving indigenous languages?  For example: Consider aboriginal languages with rich vocabularies used to describe the natural world It is important to preserve indigenous languages because often times a particular language can be derived from a dying language. Thus creates a different and sensible meaning. Having said, this will broaden the vocabulary of the language and allow a larger scale of dialects. Depending where the language is geographically from, those people will eventually lose a sense of identity or cultural value. Language can represent a particular culture's values for instance, nobility and loyalty. Even though a particular culture does not need a language, it is still a great tool to give a sense of connection within that community. Nivea Advertisement Culturally, the advertisement is based or from an Asian country or more specifically, India. This is because the female model is actually a famous actress that is from India. Women in India are mostly dark skinned, however, the idle image of beauty in India's society is for women to be light - skinned. In other words, women are more recognized if they light - skinned. For example, within European countries or cultures, the idle beauty or most attractive are individuals who are fair, petite, blue - eyed, long blonde hair, etc. This suggests that culture can often persuade an audience within a specific advertisement. Socially, this advertisement portrays that Nivea cream moisturizes and smooths the skin.
